What to Do Around Victoria Falls Area

The Local name for the Victoria Falls is MOSI OA TUNYA meaning "The smoke that Thunders". People come from all over the world to visit one of the greatest natural shows on earth. Deciding how to utilise the time you have can be a daunting task. Naturally the biggest determining factor will be how many days you have. Please remember to get a double entry VISA for Zimbabwe as this will come in handy if you decide to visit one of the neighbouring countries for a day trip. VISAS can be obtained cheaper at point of entry than at embassies around the world.

If you are only around for a night the best deal would be to plan to visit the falls on the afternoon of your arrival suggested time is from 2:30pm till about 6:00 in summer for the best photographic light and from 1:00pm till 5:00pm in the winter. A standard visit to the Falls will last about 2 hours if you are taking it easy.
From March till May, it is recommended to take a raincoat along but if you forget yours, you can hire from the stalls at the entrance for $2 each. Also make sure that you have plastic bags to put your cameras in.
If you have two nights you can easily fit in Tour of the Falls, Sunset Cruise(on day two), Lion Walk( day 2), Helicopter flight(day 2 am flight)
If you have Three or more days you may want to think of adding on to the list above, a full days drive to Chobe national park.
Other Activities to do.
Hwnage National park( full day trip)
Livingstone Museum( Zambia)
White Water rafting
Gorge swing
Canoeing
Village tours ( Matabele).
Zimbabwe now uses usd as major currency and cash can be withdrawn at various ATMs. Most activity palces will accept credit cards but for some activities you will have to pay Parks fees in cash. One of the best ways to avoid stress is to pre book your activities or talk to your travel agent about the various options. Viewing of the Falls from the Zambian side is best only from Mid February till July.
A visit to the Falls area is never complete till you have been to the Open craft Market where you can Bargain for crafts. There are also shops with set prices for those that are not so keen on trying to get "the best price"
