Three Fantastic Thailand Destinations

Thailand is well known for being a country packed full of interesting places to visit and things to see. With so many great package holidays to Thailand it's also an easy destination to get to. This article takes a look at some of the country's most interesting sites and locations, to give you an idea of what's on offer.
Bangkok
An article about Thailand wouldn't be complete with out a mention of its fantastic capital, Bangkok. Famed for its chaotic atmosphere and hectic streets, the capital may not be for everyone but that's not to say you should miss it however. Bangkok is home to several famous sites that it would be a shame to miss out on; the Grand Palace for example will dazzle with its bejewelled surfaces and the Wat Arun and Wat Po provide a glimpse into the city's Buddhist roots. If you're feeling adventurous, heading out into the wider city will also provide you with some unique experiences, the notorious backpacker's road Khao San, the impressive bazaars of Chinatown and the world famous Patpong Night Market are all well worth a visit.
The Floating Market
The classic Floating Market is the next up on our list, a little more relaxing than Bangkok. The market is best know for its appearance in the James Bond classic "The Man with the Golden Gun" and is located on the Damneon Saduak Canal. The market is set in a beautiful area and attracts thousands of visitors every year, it also gives an insight into how trading in Thailand was before the country became more modernised. Trading on the market is an experience in itself, with the interested customers having to hail down the market boats as they pass. The area around the canals also provides the opportunity to explore rural Thailand, with a number of excellent vineyards and orchards nearby.
Chiang Mai
The spiritual city known as Chiang Mai is a great alternative to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, and an essential stop for anyone in the area. Chiang Mai gets its spiritual reputation due to the number of temples dotted around the city, that's not all that's on offer however; the city also has a great selection of craft shops, restaurants and is famed for its Thai massage. This mix of features means that city has a tranquil atmosphere, making it a great destination to kick back and relax in.
